Rosacea

Rosacea may be described as facial inflammation; the condition is characterized by flushing and redness of the skin. Almost anyone can be affected by Rosacea, but it is most commonly seen in people with fair skin and those who blush easily. The exact cause or the age of onset of Rosacea cannot be determined; however, it is usually seen after the age of 30. Initially, the redness may come and go, but over a period of time, the redness becomes more pronounced and persistent. If this condition is not treated, it may turn into bumps and pimples.
The nose may appear swollen, and the eyes seem bloodshot and watery. The condition can be aggravated by the excessive use of alcohol, hot drinks, certain foods, stress, and exercise.
Until recently, treatment for Rosacea was almost non-existent. With the advance in IPL treatments, it is now within reach of everybody and is quite simple and easy.
IPL can be used to treat Rosacea to absorb heat from the beam of light, coagulating the blood within the vein and making the vein disappear. Some more prominent veins may turn slightly grey at first before disappearing permanently.

What does the treatment feel like?
Quick and easy! Cool gel is applied to the areas to be treated and the cool IPL handpiece moves on the skin, emitting a beam of light. Most people perceive it as the gentle snapping of a rubber band, causing little or no discomfort.
How many treatments are required?
Most people see visible results even after their first treatment but a series of at least 3-5 treatments are recommended.
Is there any downtime?
The only effect to be seen after the treatment is a slight redness similar to flushing after being in the sun.
What precautions will I need to take?
IPL treatments are most effective on untanned skin. Avoid exposure to direct sun light after the treatment until the skin assumes normal appearance. Wear sun block with SPF 30.
How much does the treatment cost?
Cost generally depends on the damage to the skin and on as to how many treatments are required. Each IPL Photo-facial costs around $350-450.
